The University of Salford is a public research university located in Salford, Greater Manchester, England, approximately 1.6 kilometres west of Manchester city centre. Founded originally as the Royal Technical Institute in 1896, it became a College of Advanced Technology in 1956 and gained university status in 1967. The university has over 26,000 students and is situated on 160 acres of parkland along the River Irwell. It offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses across four academic schools and is known for its strong industry links, practical teaching focus, and research impact.
